Where do I sign up and who is responsible?
On our Getting Started page, you can find a legal analysis that tells how in Indiana it is called 'reporting enrollment.'  The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) believes that making a blanket statement of request to report enrollment, to anyone in the state who chooses to homeschool, is lawful.  The Home School Legal Defense Association believes the law states that enrollment requests must be a specific personal request.

In other words, you're in charge!  You are the teacher, principal, superintendent, nurse, and janitor, and how your child gets an education is totally up to you and at your expense.  By law you are responsible to give your child at minimum, an equivalent education to what he would receive in a public school.  How you choose to do that is up to you - one-on-one tutoring with you and/or another person, DVD courses, online courses, group classes with other homeschooled kids, etc.
